SEA 1 or Senate Enrolled Act 1 is a bill that was passed in 2025. This bill is a major variable in the ways in which public schools receive funding — specifically in the form of property taxes.

This bill was signed by many members of the legislative assembly — including Jim Buck (S-21) and Heath VanNatter (H-38)

SEA-1 causes a $730,000,000.00 loss in operational funds toward the hoosier public school system over the next four years. This includes an estimated $2,700,000.00 Tipton Community School Corporation will lose within the 2027-2031 window.

The relief expected from SEA 1 is crucial, especially for farmers.
