“What even is ‘Senate-Enrolled-Act 1?’”
SEA 1 or Senate Enrolled Act 1 is a bill that was passed in 2025. This bill is a major variable in the ways in which public schools receive funding — specifically in the form of property taxes.
This bill was signed by many members of the legislative assembly — including Jim Buck (S-21) and Heath VanNatter (H-38)
SEA-1 causes a $730,000,000.00 loss in operational funds toward the hoosier public school system over the next four years. This includes an estimated $2,700,000.00 Tipton Community School Corporation will lose within the 2027-2031 window.
The relief expected from SEA 1 is crucial, especially for farmers.
However, the treatment of which our government was authorized to prescribe was not only ineffective, but disastrous…
2026 TCSC REFERENDUM.
“Shall the Tipton Community School Corporation increase property taxes paid to the school corporation for no more than eight (8) years for the purpose of providing funding to maintain academic programs, class sizes, student support, health and safety services, attract and retain teachers and support staff, maintain student transportation services, and sustain educational and operational funding stability by imposing a property tax rate that does not exceed $0.25 and results in a maximum annual amount that does not exceed $2,000,000. If this operating referendum public question is approved by the voters, for a median residence of $200,000, the property’s annual property tax bill would increase by $216 per year.”
